Squid are marine cephalopods of the order Teuthida, which comprises around 300 species. Like all other cephalopods, squid have a distinct head, bilateral symmetry, a mantle, and arms. Squid, like cuttlefish, have eight arms and two tentacles arranged in pairs.
ok ok I know what you are thinking, this has nothing to do with motorcycles or motorcycling. But wait one minute, it has way more to do with it than you think. Squid has been a motorcycle related term for way longer than I can remember. A squid is someone that rides around with shorts, sandals, wife beater, no lid rocking sunglasses. A squid usually is not that great of a rider or someone that makes poor decisions while riding there motorcycle. This for the most part has been a derogatory remark towards people who do not really know how to ride or don't prefer to wear gear!
Well myself and others have taken the squid term and ran with it. At the shop that I used to work for we started calling everyone squids. It got so out of control that we started calling our friends squids! Most of these guys were top riders in the stuntriding community! We even went as far to make shirts and make fun of our selves! We were the squid squad and we were here to stay! You could almost say that we started the squid revolution. So still to this day I refer to most of my friends and myself as a squid! My homie Omar (check out his blog "keeping it vertical") is the biggest squid alive! While he makes an attempt to be a stuntrider (check out the videos, Squid to Pro in the videos section) he really doesn't have what it takes to make it in the big leagues!! It makes me smile everytime that I call him a squid and he cries about it!
So with all of that said I am going to leave you with an example of a squid. This is my homeboy JBstunts aka Jason Bryant kicking some serious ass in Kansas City. He has been ripping it up all across the country competing in the XDL and Stuntwars Series! He's been traveling around with "Crazy" Dan Jackson and Johnny Seals living the dream!! So check out my boy and call him a squid!
